Tasmania’s East Coast has been building quite a reputation for it’s wines in recent years. We’d like to take a moment to introduce 3 our fav Tasmanian Wines, and you will find them all on board Schouten Passage II!
The Bend: A small 2 ½ ha family vineyard situated just north of Swansea, The Bend is owned and operated by the Edginton and Sinclair families. The homestead itself is established in the 1860’s and was originally a sheep grazing property. The vineyard was planted in 1998. You can find mor information on offering from The Bend here.
Gala Estate: Gala Estate is one of the original properties established in the region, the orginal farm produced flour for the gold rush and ran sheep for wool. Today, the focus is on Fine Merino Wool, Award Winning Wines and a little cropping on the side. Gala Estate is home now to the 5th, 6th, and 7th generation of the original owner, James Amos. Ironhouse Brewery and winery: There is a spectacular little spot by the ocean, a little north of Bicheno, called White Sand Estate: The property is stunning and is home to 60 hectares of vines overlooking the Tasman Sea. They produce fabulous sparkling, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay and pinot noir. White Sands Estate features it’s own Brewery, Winery and Distillery. You can find some more info here.
